Chris Johnson has been recognized as an outstanding leader in the Sacramento Area.
Chris graduated from Florin High School (FHS). There he was a star basketball player for the FHS Panthers averaging 19.2 points and 9 assists per game. He was named MVP, All City Team, Optimist All Star, and was recognized as one of the top guards in the West Coast in 1997. He also was a very strong student, maintaining a 3.78 GPA.
Chris was recruited by many colleges across the nation, including Harvard, West Point, Vermont, Liberty, and California State University Sacramento (CSUS) to name a few. Despite signing a letter of intent to attend University of California, Santa Barbara, Chris decided to stay home near his family and high school sweetheart Shawna. Chris accepted a Scholarship at CSUS, but transferred to the University of California, Davis where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications.
After basketball and college, Chris decided to use his determination, tenacity, and work ethic in the corporate world. Chris began his professional career at URS Corporation, one of the world’s largest international engineering firms. Later Chris joined a large staffing firm, where he was nationally recognized as the No. 1 producer. After an exceptional career in the corporate world, Chris decided to start his own professional staffing company and formed The Johnson Group, Inc. in 2006.
That courageous leap has yielded impressive results. The Johnson Group, Inc. has been recognized by the Sacramento Business Journal as the 7th Fastest Growing Company in the Sacramento area and Small Business of the Year by Senate Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg.
Chris is also the Inventor of Rapid Ramen, a product that microwaves perfect ramen noodles in half the time. The product will debut in Walmart in November 2012.
While heading The Johnson Group, Inc. and Rapid Ramen, Chris has simultaneously coached thousands of kids in the Elk Grove and Sacramento Area over the last 15 years.
When asked why he decided to start the Chris Johnson Basketball Academy, he explained, "This is my way of giving back to my community. My passion is coaching and inspiring kids through the game of basketball. I love watching kids develop their game, while teaching them life lessons to be used on and off the court. Basketball is a powerful tool to encourage discipline, team work, work ethic, determination, and integrity. All skills to be successful in this game of life." Chris also serves as a Board Member for the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA).
Johnson resides with his wife and high school sweetheart Shawna, and their three kids, Christopher age 14, Josiah age 9, and Chloe age 4.
